Wii Fit Balance Board Games

The Wii Fit and Balance Board have been around now for a few years. And I always find it interesting when I hear someone who has just discovered the Wii Fit tell me, “Exercising has never been this fun!” If you are not one of these people yet and don’t know the joys of using this great fitness system for the Nintendo Wii gaming system, then this is for you.

The Wii Fit (and newer Wii Fit Plus) comes with an accompanying accessory called the Wii Fit Balance Board. There is also a Wii bundle for Wii Fit that comes in several varieties and contains things like mats and dumbbells, These were all initially developed by Nintendo with the goal of getting the whole family exercising together and maing exercising more fun by making it more of a game as well. This exercise game is for all ages and if you need to losing weight or just stay in shape, but like the concept of having fun as well, then this may be just the ticket to getting you on a standardized exercise routine.

A Wii Fit Balance Board is used as a platform that you stand on and does many different things. It can be used to calculate one’s body mass index. A body mass index is actually a measurement of your weight in relation to your height. This determines whether your weight is appropriate for your height by simply telling you if you are underweight or overweight. In other words, its a scale! But that is a cool feature. The balance board is also used in the Wii Fit game and other fitness games that utilize the board to give feedback to the game about where your feet are.

Using the balance board along with a hand held nunchuk, you progress through specific exercise routines with the game giving you feedback about your speed, exercise form, and other parameters to coax you along. It does take a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of using these interface accessories to complete your exercise regimen, it actually seems quite natural. The main compliant from many people is just that the exercise routines get old after a while and so they go looking for a different game.

Now for those who want something a little different than the Wii Fit game and who love meditation and complete peace and quiet, then yoga might be the game you are looking for! There are various yoga poses you can mimic from the screen.  There are also push ups, aerobics and other balance games that will definitely increase your stamina and improve your balance. There are also games like Golds Gym that are really meant for someone that is already in pretty good physical shape, or the popular EA Sports Active which many people chose as an alternative to the Wii Fit or Wii Fit Plus games. It does not matter which game you chose, all use the balance board in one form or another and all strive to make the exercise routine more interactive and fun.
