What’s With Electronic Snake Repellers?
There has been a lot of argument on garden and outdoor forums recently over the relatively new invention of an “electronic snake repeller.” From that sentence alone it is probably obvious where the two sides of the argument fall, but the discussion are pretty adamant from both sides. There are those individuals who have mentioned testing these out and using them – especially in Australia, where one of the main companies that produces and manufactures electric snake repellers is located. Many people have reported being extremely happy with them and seeing good results. Others declare that the entire idea is a complete crock and the equivalent of technologically advanced snake oil.
Both sides are claiming science is on their side, which can be a problem since at this point there doesn’t seem to be any rock solid scientific studies that have been done to declare it one way or the other. So whose word do you trust? That’s where the problem comes in as it’s hard to figure out which way to go. The side saying the repellers are scams say snakes don’t care about vibrations. As someone who used to mow a heavily snake infested property, I can tell you that’s not true at all. But is a lawnmower and an electric pulse going to have the same effect? Yet another question.
While the best way to deal with a snake infestation is to look for the environmental factors that make your property so attractive and to make them less attractive to snakes, for people who feel completely overrun, these might be worth a fair shot. If they work even a little bit, for many people that would be worth it. While there doesn’t seem to be anything completely conclusive that can be found on the web at this point, there are still some very good electronic snake repeller reviews online that give the pros, cons, and otherwise to at least help you make an educated decision on the matter instead of a blind guess.
