When a parent uses disposable diapers to diaper their child, they don’t really have any issues when they are out and about and have to change their child’s dirty diaper.  For parents who choose to use cloth diapers, they are at a bit of a disadvantage because they can’t just throw out the diaper like parents who use disposable diapers can.  The cloth diaper parents need to bring the dirty diaper home to wash it and re-use it.  Well, you can’t just toss the dirty diaper in your diaper bag because it will possibly contaminate other things in the diaper bag.  This is where a wet bag comes in.  A wet bag is a type of bag that you can put cloth diapers in that have been soiled.  it can be sealed off so it can be carried in your diaper bag without fear of contaminating the other items in the diaper bag.

There are different types of wet bags available.  You can buy disposable wet bags that are like mini trash bags.  These can be good because they are inexpensive, but you do have to keep buying them so it can definitely add up.  You also have to throw them away which isn’t environmentally friendly, a popular reason for doing cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers.  You can buy wet bags that are designer styles with a slick, waterproof lining on the inside.  These will be made with fashionable fabrics and the insides are usually made with polyurethane laminate, which can be easily wiped off.

Depending on the type of fashionable wet bag you buy ,you’ll definitely want to take care of it.  Washing it every so often in the washing machine and wiping it down with a sanitizing cloth in between washes is a good idea.  Depending on the material that is used on the wet bag, you may or may not be able to dry it in a dryer, so make sure to read the label before doing that.
