Baby swaddling blankets are small blankets that is used to wrap a newborn in securely. The blanket makes the baby feel safe and secure, as if they were still in the mother’s womb. The blanket is wrapped tightly to keep their arms and legs in one place and so that they can not roll over or have their hands scratch their face and fail around. They can be made of any material, however they are usually made of a thinner material that will keep a newborn warm, but not over heated.
When using swaddling blankets, the baby is laid into the corner o the blanket. Many blankets may have a decoration of some sort in the corner, such as a cute animal head or a triangle that can fit on the baby’s head like a cap. Lay the baby into this corner and keep their arms at their sides and their legs straight. Fold over one corner over their arms and tuck underneath their body. Make sure it is secure, but not overly tight either. Fold the other corner over the other side of their body and tuck underneath them. At the bottom their will not be a triangle of the fabric, fold down over their feet and tuck under their back. Now the baby can be laid down in their bassinet or crib. Wrapping the baby tightly in this fashion works for putting them in a bouncer as well or if the mother is nursing, this is an effective wrap to use, so that the baby can not squirm while nursing.
Furthermore, a baby will sleep better at night and will not wake as often, because they will not be able to move as freely and wake themselves up. They are an item you will use again and again during the first three months of having a baby.
