Tips on Fixing Freestanding Gas Cookers

Freestanding gas cookers are one of the easier kinds of cooking appliances to use. It is also easier to figure out when things go haywire because there are less wires to worry about. More free standing gas cookers are also being sold today because it is more practical and cheaper to use. However, it can get a little rattling when you start to notice your gas cooker acting strange.

One problem with an oven is that as you cook, there is a tendency for the food being cooked to spill over. This will normally drip onto the burners or insides of the oven. It could cause problems unless cleaned up. Unfortunately, sometimes, you can’t tell that there was a spill especially if you leave your food cooking without constant supervision.

Before you try fixing a gas cooker, be sure to shut off the gas. Freestanding gas cookers can be a potential risk if you start repairing it with the gas still on.

If the fire is uneven, the first thing you need to check are the burner holes. They could be clogged. You can fix this on your own by poking the holes gently with a sewing needle. Then, brush it gently with a soft brush and some water. Stubborn dirt and oil can be cleaned by using soap and water.

Many burners also have a light locking device that could have gone slipped, so you can also check if the top of the burner is properly installed. It could have slipped off a little and affecting the even heating.

If the oven is not working properly or does not turn on easily, look at the pilot light in your oven. It might have been damaged. Sometimes, the damage is caused by an accidental hit or from normal wear and tear. This is also a part that can be replaced easily with the proper tools. If you are unsure about how to replace it, you can ask your manufacturer to send someone over for a diagnostic. If your freestanding gas cooker is still under warranty, then no worries. You will not have to pay anything.
