A country style can seem very crisp and white. This is a more refreshing take on things and also seems a little bit more contemporary. The key is to just really calm things down and get back to basics. This also really helps you to break up a bright or bold color by bringing in neutrals even on a white painted chest of drawers.
The lines of this furniture should be pretty simple, but it can have a few details, whether it’s the legs of the country style or often something called bun feet. They are circular and low to the ground. It’s a very subtle detail that is still going to make your furniture feel more country than modern. This is especially important if you’re planning on painting a thrift store piece because you do have to look past things like color or finish and really just focus in on the actual lines of the piece.
You can also add this style into more of a decorating mode. This means that you might have to do DIY projects. Instead, you can just decide to change up the knobs, which is one of the easiest kinds of things that you can do. However, designer custom knobs can be quite expensive. A great way around this is to just head down to your local hardware store and look at their back stock. This is different than buying for kitchen cabinets because you don’t need dozens of knobs; you only need a few for your dresser and coordinating nightstands which allows you to focus in on a lot of discontinued pieces. In this case, you can just get porcelain knobs that might even have hand painting on them. In other design elements this might seem a little bit to outdated but it can really relate back to beautiful china patterns or porcelain bowls that you bring into a blue and white bedroom.
