The amount of fossil fuel available to mankind is rapidly declining. It will not take long before there is not enough left to warm our houses, drive our cars and fly our planes. Solar energy has many advantages above other sources of energy. The main advantage is that production of solar energy is in no way polluting. Although the production of solar panels will cause pollution in some way, it is in no way comparative to the heavy pollution caused fossil fuel. Another huge advantage is that solar energy is very cheap to get. There are only initial costs for buying the solar panels, but after that all the energy you receive is free of charge. Yet another advantage is that you can use solar energy everywhere. If you life in a remote place than getting connected to the electricity network might sometimes be a burden. But with solar energy you don’t need to be connected to the electricity network and installation is often cheaper too.

So why is not everybody using solar energy? The main reasons why not everybody is already using this powerful resource is because of the high initial costs. Although it will save you a lot of money in the end, the initial costs are quite high. Especially if you have a medium income and a family to support, paying $2000 for solar panels might be a bit to much. Another disadvantage is the fact that you need space to install the solar panels. If you have a big house than this is not a problem because you can place them on your roof. But if you live in a big city in an apartment, you have no option to install them on your roof.

Although there are still some disadvantages to take care off, there is no doubt that solar energy is going to be a powerful alternative for fossil fuel in the near future.
