Latex Mattresses Are at the Higher End of the Mattress Spectrum

At the higher end of the mattress spectrum, we have the latex mattress.  This type of mattress tends to be quite expensive at above the $1500 to $2000 range for the name brand. So when you see a cheap latex mattress advertised, let the buyer beware.

The reasons for that low price can be one of several. Any of which can be reasons to reconsider a purchase of a cheap latex mattress. It could be substandard latex materials or just cheaply made in general. There is one hidden cost to these mattresses that many folks don’t consider.

Usually cheap latex mattresses are actually made of synthetic latex, called syntax. This material is not biodegradable like natural latex and cannot just be thrown out. Latex needs to be disposed of properly and that carries a charge. So the money you save on that cheap latex mattress goes out the window right there.

There is no proof that fake latex is any more durable, bouncier or more comfortable than natural latex. Those are claims that have no basis in fact but it is a natural truth that real latex will last longer and retain its shape. When a cheap latex mattress loses its shape, you pay the price in back pain, neck pain and/or possibly restless leg symptoms.

So coupled with the cost of pain pills or visits to the doctor or even a chronic condition, the cost of a cheap latex mattress just does not add up. The savings you realize at the beginning are easily removed from the equation by these expenses. You end up spending more money than you saved over time and this can be a very disappointing outcome.

So in actuality, the cost of a cheap latex mattress can surpass the cost of natural latex in the long term.
