There are many things that you can do to enhance your outdoor space so that you will use it more. Perhaps two of the most important things that you can do to really make you garden somewhere that you want to spend time in is to purchase some furniture and address the lighting so that you can spend time in your garden in the evening.
Many people will opt for simple wooden furniture for their garden; it looks in keeping with nature and doesn’t get too hot sit on in the summer. Although there are more pressure treated softwood patio sets arriving to the market place every day you simple cannot beat the more traditional hardwood outdoor furniture. Teak wood patio furniture is resilient to the outdoor conditions and will maintain it’s appearance for years to come. Do remember though that if you do decide to buy furniture made from a hardwood and not pressure treated softwood, you will need to oil it once a year to keep it in tip top condition.
One you have got your furniture sorted out you will want to start looking at some outdoor lighting designs. With the advances in LED technology, where the bulbs take very little energy to illuminate, solar powered garden lights are taking the market by storm. It is easy to see why this form of garden lighting is so popular; it is cheap to run, simple to install and is very safe as there is no mains voltage going to the lights. When thinking about how to light your garden, make sure that you satisfy these three points:
- Illuminate hazards – so that your garden is a safe place to be at night.
- Provide adequate ambient lighting so that you can see visitors you may have.
- Provide some form of decorative lighting so that you garden looks beautiful.
By address the lighting and furniture requirements of your garden you will make it a place that you want to spend time and will therefore use it much more frequently.
