Pathway Lighting Products – Two Electrical Options
Pathway lighting products are plentifully available in the United States. In fact, home lighting products that are designed to illuminate pathways are available to complement just about any type of pathway on residential property. At times, consumers will focus on the look of the pathway lighting products, without paying much attention to the manner by which the home lighting is illuminated. In other words, what is the power source that is providing the energy for the pathway lighting products to function?
Two common sources of power used with pathway lighting products are the standard home voltage and low voltage. In the United States, the standard home voltage is 120 volts. Therefore, lighting products that use the standard home voltage, use a 120 volt power source to operate. With this type of pathway lighting, solid knowledge about electricity is needed, given that the lights use 120 volts and are hardwired, meaning that they are permanently connected to the power source. Usually, an electrician is needed to ensure safe and proper installation of these types of lights.
On the hand, pathway lighting products that use low voltage, 12 volts to operate, tend to be easier to install than the pathway lighting that uses 120 volts. Consequently, some consumers feels comfortable installing the lights themselves, given the lower voltage and the fact that many of these lights are connected to an electrical wall outlet instead of being hardwired.
Indeed, some consumers when shopping for pathway lighting products initially focus their attention on how the lighting product looks, and whether the lighting will provide the ambiance they wish to create on their property. However, consumers may also wish to pay equal attention to the power source that pathway lighting products are designed to use, so that the consumer will be better informed of what is required to safely install the lighting on their property.
