Exploring Online Auto Auctions

Despite the recent push by the government and auto dealers alike to get brand new automobiles off the sales lots and into consumer’s garages, the public is always looking for ways to curb the cost of their transportation. One way to do this is to visit one of the many websites featuring online auto auctions.  For a fairly minimal fee for the seller, vehicles are posted, most often with photos, on the website for buyers to peruse from the comfort of their own home or office.

If interested, the buyer places a bid on the vehicle and at the auction deadline, the winning bid is accepted by the seller and a transaction takes place to switch ownership of the vehicle. One advantage for the buyer is that one can “sift through” the possibilities and trim the decision to a select few regardless of the vehicle’s location. Conversely, an advantage to the seller is the wide-reaching audience; the item can be seen by a multitude of customers at any given moment without the bother of appointments being made (or broken), schedules being rearranged, or lives being disrupted.

It’s best to do a little homework before you do any bidding, the repo cars guide is a good place to start.  Remember one of the most attractive advantages is pricing. As a consumer you have control over what you are willing to spend and the opportunity to walk away with the deal of the century, often being able to find used vehicles for a lower price than what a dealership is willing to provide. The advantage to the seller is that offering the item for auction allows for minimum values to be set while allowing competing bids to bring in prices over what dealerships may offer for trade-in, making selling the vehicle on your own and using that money for a down payment towards a new vehicle or anything else you desire more economical.

Pricing of listings varies as does the requirements and options depending on which website is used. A quick search on the internet for “auto auctions website” will bring back a multitude of choices for both buyer and seller in which to list or buy their next vehicle.
