Duties and Responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant

Depending on the veterinary office or hospital, if there is a boarding kennel then veterinary assistantswill most likely be asked to perform dog walking, feeding and sometimes cleaning the kennels as well. This is just one of the many duties that this profession is responsible for with the rest of responsibilities being handed to veterinary technicians who are the ones to perform all of the exams, procedures and operations. While assistants are responsible for doing a lot of different duties on a daily basis, the veterinary technician salary is much higher because they have to go through two to four years of schooling whereas the assistant can get away with on-the-job training. Working in the reception area, taking payments, answering phones, assisting clients and scheduling appointments are just some of the many different tasks that this profession is responsible for on a daily basis.

Saving the Earth One Planter at a Time

Did you know that plastic can take hundreds of years to break down once it has reached the landfill?
One of the best ways to help the environment is by turning some of your old plastic garden pots into something that you can use around the house or back in your garden again.
It is funny that with just a little bit of paint, you can give something a fresh and new look. So get your plastic paint out and get ready to transform those garden planters into spectacular pieces of art for your home and garden.
Before you begin painting, you need to make sure all of your pots are as clean as possible, so give them a good wash with soap and water. Allow them to air dry and once dry begin your painting.
You can purchase special plastic paint just about anywhere, from online to your local hardware store.
Pick out your favorite color and give your pots a healthy coat or two. Once you are done let them dry out.
A good idea to change old garden pots and give them a fresh look is to decorate them! This is an excellent time to get out your stencils or find free ones online to use. Pick something pretty such as a picture of the Eiffel tower or some words you love or a favorite quote!
This is a great time to think about any birthdays that might be coming up in your family. If your friend or family member likes hearts or Hello kitty or anything you can think of, try to find some stencils that you can purchase and put them to use. Stencils will look great on planters and they will increase the value of them in the person’s eyes if they love what is on them.
You can make several of these and then use them in your home to decorate or store things such as pens, scissors or even makeup brushes!
You can also reuse these as helpful vegetable garden planters or just for starting some seedlings.
Use your imagination and there are many helpful and beautiful designs you can create.

Train your dog with ease

One of the biggest problems that many dog trainers as well as owners face when they are working to train a grown up dog is the ability of the dog to bite back — which even when done playfully can lead to disastrous consequences. So, long story short, here is the solution to that very problem —  plastic basket muzzles. While this solution is great for dogs that might bite you when they are being trained, you should look at other ways to restrain your dog if your dog has a history of aggression or has been party to some violent outburst over the span of their life. There is a common misconception that muzzles make dogs aggressive. This is simply a case consequence following cause (and logic) instead of the other way round. It is always the aggressive dogs that end up with muzzles — hence the reason teat pretty much every dog with a leather or a wire mesh muzzle will be aggressive and the muzzle is a measure against the aggression not the cause of it.

Rare and vintage duck calls

Vintage duck calls were used to bring ducks within the range of the hunter’s gun.  Many of these rare and antique calls were made of wood.  Some were hand carved, but many were also produced on a lathe.  Some of the more rare calls were carved from ivory.
A duck call is a whistle like device.  It has a barrel, reed and sound block that change the hunter’s voice into the sound of a duck.  The sound produced by the call should be a quack that is very similar to the voice of a duck and is one of the key components of duck hunting equipment.
